Our Upcoming Chapter & State Functions

LES Baton Rouge Chapter Members,

I hope everyone has been staying safe and healthy during this COVID pandemic. It has been since February from our last event during E-Week and we are missing our chapter members and look forward to getting together again soon. This has been some unchartered waters for all and we have been assessing the situation and how it affects our LES Baton Rouge Chapter with upcoming chapter events, 2020-2021 board nominations, and our corporate sponsorships. Due to the current situation associated with quarantine and social distancing, the LES Baton Rouge Chapter has had to reschedule, modify, and/or cancel some events. Below is an update as our current plan for our members.

Upcoming Events

· The LES Baton Rouge Golf Tournament has been cancelled for the April event. The Chapter is looking to reschedule this Golf Tournament in the fall. We will keep you posted on the rescheduled date. If you have already registered for this event and need to be refunded or defer registration cost to the next event, please let us know.

· Our Annual LES Crawfish Boil is typically scheduled for April. Due to the “Stay at Home” order and the phased approach to reopening the economy, the LES Board will cancel the crawfish boil for 2020 and will resume with it is 2021. In an attempt to still get our members together and to provide a free ethics session to our members, our board is looking into alternatives that may include either an online ethics webinar or possibly substituting with a fall LSU Tailgate Party.

· Our Young Member Social for May will be postponed. Our board will look to host a joint social with partnering organizations for either June or July if possible.

· The LES / ASCE Joint Luncheon is scheduled for May 28th. Pending the Governor’s roll out plan, the LES Board is looking at either a 100% online luncheon or a possibility of a limited seating luncheon with combination of an online webinar. More to come on this in the next week or two.

2020-2021 Board Nominations

· The LES Board is looking for nominations for our upcoming 2020-2021 fiscal year. If you are interested in participating on the board, please email les-br@les-state.org or kevin.beyer@tbsmith.com. We will add you to the ballot which will be sent out to members next week for voting. The board is asking that all nominations be submitted by Monday, May 4th to be considered for the board.

Corporate Sponsors

We want to thank our Corporate Sponsors for the continued support of our organization. As we close out the 2019-2020 year, the board will be looking for sponsors for the upcoming year to help continue with the events. Due to some of the impediments of COVID with our recent events, the LES Board is looking to all of our current corporate sponsors with a discounted sponsorship package. During these trying times, we all need to work together to help support and protect our engineering profession and we cannot do it without our sponsors! Thank you!

If you need anything from LES during this time, please do not hesitate to reach out to either myself or any board member for assistance. In the meantime, please stay safe, healthy and focus forward as we all continue working through this time.
